Purpose:The authors designed this book with a focus on an approach to learning pharmacology, an approach to disease, and an approach to reading in order that students can master the topic of pharmacology and practice evidence-based medicine throughout their career.
Audience:This book will be a valuable asset for any students who need to understand drug therapy for their future practice and for those who are involved in teaching students about the therapeutic use of drugs.
Features:Each case provides clinically relevant information and open-ended questions focused on basic science concepts with some clinical applications. The answers to the open-ended questions are divided into four parts: part I provides a summary, a straightforward answer, and clinical correlations; part II provides an approach to the basic science concepts including objectives, definitions of basic terminology, and discussion of specific classes of drugs related to the clinical case; part III contains comprehensive questions including many USMLE-style multiple choice questions; and part IV provides pharmacology pearls to help students retain important information related to the case.
