Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung

It may be raining but join the happy, colorful animals that are out to play. The purple pig, green turtles, red elephants, and other animals help to introduce primary and secondary colors to young children. Learn to identify the colors and listen to the text that rhymes. The words for the hues are in all capital letters in the sentences. The pictures are color photographs of animals created out brightly colored balloons. The clouds may have started out gray but they take on the color that is presented in the layout. The story ends with a rainbow and all the balloon animals. A few ideas for adult and child interaction during the story time are suggested in the back of the book. This book is from the "Rookie Preschool: My First Rookie Reader" series which is guided by early childhood consultants. The other titles in the series introduce different concepts for preschoolers to enjoy and learn. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
