Children's Literature - Joyce Rice

Although the focus of this text is oriented toward gifted and talented students, the experiments can be adapted for use in a variety of settings and within a wide age range. The experiments are designed for adult and child to do together, but older children will be able to do some of them on their own. The introduction gives the reader the basic steps of the scientific method. Each experiment is described in a two-page format. Each lesson presents a hypothesis, background, supplies needed, procedure, findings, and follow up questions. Each experiment has suggestions for revising the experiment to show the same results, thereby validating the results. Exploration of light, color, sound, temperature, and bacteria are possible with these experiments. This is an excellent science resource for both the classroom and a homeschool program. An index, metric conversion table, and pronunciation guide is included.
