The sense of smell is explained in this installment from "A True Book" series. Chapter One, "Everyone Smells," provides an overview of how the sense of smell works, including the names of the different parts of the nose. Chapter Two, "The Nose Knows," goes into more detail about the anatomy of the nose. Chapter Three, "Smell and Taste," explains the relationship between tasting and smelling. Chapter Four, "When a Nose Can't Smell," describes how colds, allergies, smoking, and injuries to the nose affect people's sense of smell. Chapter Five, "Take Care of Your Nose," lists things that people can do to make sure they can always smell. A few single page blurbs of fun facts about smell round out the text of the book. Glossy photos, close-ups, and diagrams provide lots of visual interest. This book would be a good addition to any health or science class. 2003, Scholastic,
