Synopsis

Fun new chunky Sparkly Board Books that include four big pull-tab surprises. A friendly dolphin shows children where to find his shimmering friends in "Sparkly Ocean." Check out "Sparkly Farm" and "Sparkly Garden" for more sparkly surprises. For ages 2-5.

Children's Literature

A board book with window slides is no real surprise, but these are particularly difficult to pull. The die cut cover reveals the first image of sea grasses. When the cover is opened, a porpoise is swimming toward the grasses and the text asks if the listener can find something shiny swimming in the sea. Pulling the tab/slide reveals a shiny, red fish. On the next page porpoise is headed toward a black blob with shiny eyes. The window tab when pulled reveals a smiling, golden octopus. The shiny green seahorse is hiding among the seaweed and on the last page a clam reveals a silver shimmery pearl. The porpoise appears on each spread and provides some continuity. As for learning colors or about any real animals, there is not much to be found in this book. The big attraction is the "sparkly" illustrations. Additional titles in the series include Sparkly Garden and Sparkly Farm. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
