School Library Journal

K-Gr 2 A pleasant, positive alphabet book about teachers and the school environment. Each page, one for each letter of the alphabet, has a black-and-white photo of a teacher in a familiar school setting. The last eight pages give more detail about the importance of teachers and the role they play. The best of all possible worlds is presented``Most schools have a full-time teaching librarian.'' Ah, that it were so. However, a realistic picture is presented of a teacher's daily responsibilities. The letter ``H'' tells children that the teacher goes home at night. Teachers of different ages, sexes, and ethnic groups are portrayed. The picture of a young male teacher sharing a picture book is a nice touch. Most collections could benefit from this up-to-date book. Kathleen M. Hall, Las Virgenes Unified School Dist . , Westlake Village, Calif.
