Overview

The Moon Maid is Burroughs' epic science fiction novel of a world conquered by invaders from the moon and a hero, Julian, who champions the earth's struggle for freedom.
"Generations of wars had done their part to stimulate scientific research to the end that we might kill one another more expeditiously, that we might transport our youth more quickly to their shallow graves in alien soil, that we might transmit more secretly and with greater celerity our orders to slay our fellow men. And always, generation after generation, there had been those few who could detach their minds from the contemplation of massacre and looking forward to a happier era concentrate their talents and their energies upon the utilization of scientific achievement for the betterment of mankind and the rebuilding of civilization."
Edgar Rice Burroughs was an American author, best known for his creation of the jungle hero Tarzan, "Lost worlds" and the heroic Mars adventurer John Carter.

These Burroughs titles were released between 1914 and 1923 and both preceded and followed 1917's Tarzan of the Apes, which put the author on the map. They offer more noble savages, as well as some romance, sf, and the usual action that the author is famous for. A few of these books are available in paperback, but the Wildside editions are the only hardcovers on the market. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
