Gr 4-6-These titles give introductory information about their respective civilizations. Various topics such as language and writing, houses, clothing and food, etc. are presented on double-page spreads. The one-paragraph texts are illustrated with a few captioned, full-color photographs of relevant artifacts. The only advantage these books have over the many others available are their photographs, which are large and clear. For more detailed information, refer to Stuart Fleming's The Egyptians (New Discovery, 1992), Viviane Koening's The Ancient Egyptians (Millbrook, 1992), and Pamela Odijk's The Egyptians (Silver Burdett, 1989). Readers will find more useful information for reports in Hazel Mary Martell's The Vikings (New Discovery, 1992) and Helen M. Martell's What Do We Know About the Vikings? (Peter Bedrick, 1992).
