Overview

All of Gil's friends forgot his birthday. Or did they?

Synopsis

All of Gil's friends forgot his birthday. Or did they?

Children's Literature

Gil wakes up and is delighted because this is his big day. Off he goes to see his friend Ann, and when he asks her what day it is she tells him it is Monday. Gil is sad; she did not remember his special day. Then he spies his friend, Todd, and asks him the same question. Todd gives the same answer. Now Gil is really down in the dumps. Of course, we know better, because we can see his friends with their party hats. Then they all surprise Gil with a big Happy Birthday greeting. The story is simply told, and the English text runs across the top of the page with the Spanish translation along the bottom. At the end of the story, there is an activity to make a bookmark. The instructions are given in both Spanish and English. The closing page tells a bit about the author. This is a level 1 book in the "Green Light Readers" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
