Children's Literature - Sharon Salluzzo

Many toddlers are attached to a favorite stuffed animal. They will easily identify with Maisy when she misplaces her panda and searches for it. By lifting a flap on each page, the reader joins the search. Lift the flap to open the washing machine door, toilet seat, cupboard under the sink, laundry basket, and toy box. There is a surprise in each one. The final page shows the panda in bed and under the covers with Maisy. There is a single, simple sentence on each page. The gouache illustrations are in Cousins' signature style, with bold, flat colors outlined in black. Just one or two other objects on each page provide additional interest, and objects for young children to name. This is one of several in "A Maisy Lift-the-Flap Book" series Reviewer: Sharon Salluzzo
