About the Author, Cornelius L. Barker

Claudette J. Searchwell is a member of the adjunct staff at Kean University, Union, New Jersey, serving as a clinical supervisor of pre-professional student teachers and professional senior interns. She is also a retired elementary school principal who enjoyed a 34-year career in the public schools. Her service in the field of education included posts as classroom teacher, assistant director of a federally funded basic skills program, coordinator of citywide afterschool and summer programs, assistant principal, and principal.
