"Baby Alligators," "Enemies," "Jaws and Teeth," and "Alligators in Danger" are just four of the 13 chapters found in this book. Excellent photographs accompany every page and provide both information and interest for the reader. The photographs selected really catch what the text is about and children will revisit this book many times. It is part of the series called "In the Wild." and it is suitable for school and home use. Important vocabulary words are printed in bold throughout the text and at the end of the book, the author has included an index, a glossary, and lists of related books, websites and organizations for additional information. Kendell does an excellent job of teaching young children the importance of preserving our wildlife and her passion for this is evident in her writing. This book is a wonderful way to introduce young readers to the world of nonfiction. 2003, Steck-Vaughn Publishers, Ages 6 to 8.βKathie M. Josephs
