Children's Literature -
A little brown monkey hanging by his tail looks right out from the front cover of this board book. Readers/listeners learn that monkey likes to swing through the trees and over the river and along the way sees a crocodile in the river and parrots on a branch. All of these animals and actions have sounds associated with themβwoosh, splish, squawk, etc. A tiger is snoozing and snakes playing. The goal is to reach a tree where bananas are growing so Monkey can enjoy a tasty lunch. The illustrations are bold, the normally fearsome animals like tigers and crocodiles have been made to look tame. The sound the book makes is very slight. Part of the "Clackers" series which includes several other titles including Crocodile. Reviewer: Marilyn CourtotBook Details
