K-Gr 3Rain covers a wide variety of topics that would fit better under the umbrella subject of ``water,'' such as how birds stay dry, how water turns rocks into liquid, and how waterwheels work, as well as other related trivia. Sun flows in a sequential manner, providing information about heat, light, day and night, and why plants need sun. Both titles have a short unnecessary index, ideas for activities, and questions throughout the texts. Information for parents and teachers is appended. Full-page, full-color photographs and smaller photos depicting children performing experiments correlate with the material.
