K-Gr 2-In an effort to be approachable and conversational, the author sacrifices fact in exchange for cuteness in all three books. And in Pinkeye, if the simplistic text doesn't turn children off, the up-close-and-personal color photo of pinkeye (complete with dripping pus) will. The text on some pages is as insipid as, "Good morning, bright eyes!" or "Do you hear?" There just isn't enough information included in these books to make purchase worthwhile, and although they are intended to be for beginning readers, even children who suffer from these conditions will find very little to reassure or instruct them.-Christine A.
