Children's Literature - Joyce Rice

All children are fascinated with color, drawing, and painting. At the upper elementary level, students have already learned how to achieve a variety of colors by mixing primary colors. These concepts are developed further by discussing rainbows, mirror reflections, and how camouflage works. Simple experiments are included for the reader and additional teacher and parent notes are included with additional teaching ideas. This is part of the "Young Scientists" series and is an excellent introduction to science for the upper elementary student. This entire series would be a worthwhile purchase for the elementary classroom or the middle school classroom for students with reading difficulties.
