Children's Literature -
There are millions of plants in the world. They grow almost everywhere, even in the hottest and coldest of climates. Some plants have flowers and some make fruit. Some plants such as seaweed, mosses, and ferns, never have flowers. Students are encouraged to place a large hoop on the ground in a grassy area and try to count the number of plants within the hoop. Readers are encouraged to make a collage of pictures of things that come from plants. This is an excellent way to make students aware of the world around them. Although this book is written for the upper elementary reader, it could also be used in a read-aloud science lesson for younger children. This is part of the "Young Scientists" series and is an excellent introduction to science for the upper elementary student. This entire series would be a worthwhile purchase for the elementary classroom or the middle school classroom for students with reading difficulties.Book Details
