Children's Literature - Joyce Rice

This book on the human body discusses all of the major systems, and the senses, without including the reproductive system. Most parents and teachers of young students will be delighted to talk about eyes and ears without having to deal with a chapter on sexuality. The introductory notes for teachers and parents, as well as the index, make this a valuable resource for science classrooms at the upper elementary level. Experiments are included that can be done by children without adult supervision. This is part of the "Young Scientists" series and is an excellent introduction to science for the upper elementary student. This entire series would be a worthwhile purchase for the elementary classroom or the middle school classroom for students with reading difficulties.
