Off-road motorcycles (also called dirt bikes) are the subject of this easy-to-read overview. Lots of colorful action shots of off-road motorcycles in action will appeal to young readers. Many of the photographs show children enjoying the sport (on special child-sized bikes), and all riders are depicted wearing helmets. Safety concerns of the sport are addressed extensively, with special attention paid to appropriate training, gear, and safety equipment. The book lacks an effective conclusion. Instead, it ends abruptly with an overview of the motorcycle's parts and with helpful labeled photographs. A brief glossary defines highlighted words. Unfortunately, the book lacks an index and other appended materials that might aid young researchers, making this book more appropriate for diehard fans and other casual readers.
